Project Presentation                                                                  5.6.2000, Monday, 14:00-18:00

Last day for submission of the project report                             6.6.2000, Tuesday, 17:00.

WARNING

You have to arrange your schedule so that you will finish the simulations in time. Keep in mind that your code may contain bugs, so do not wait until the last few days for the simulation. Preferably, you work on the problem immediately! Also keep in mind that the computer system may be down or very busy in the last few days. A bonus of 5 points will be given to students who submit their project report before Monday, June the 5th, 14:00!)

The project proposal should include

• Description of the problem
• Algorithm(s)/Method(s) to solve the problem (preferably a short literature survey)
• Strategy/approach proposed to be used
• A top-down partitioning of the system with a list of building blocks to be designed with short explanation for each

The project presentation

• 20 minutes for presentation (data-show will be available), 5 minutes for discussion!
• Well organized speech (assume you are at a conference presenting your work)
• Refreshments will be supplied by the instructor!

The project report should include

• Description of the problem
• Algorithms/Methods to solve the problem (a short literature survey is required)
• Strategy/approach used
• A top-down partitioning of the system and a list of building blocks with short explanations and simulation results for each block
• Comprehensible source code and test-bench for the overall system (PLEASE NOT AS PAPER-COPY, preferably in a floppy diskette)
• Simulation(QuickHDL for VHDL code, QuickSim for the synthesized logic) and synthesis results(logic schematics, layout)
• Conclusion (discussion of performance, complexity, area, etc.)
